On March, 1st 1999 Intervracht Nederland BV was founded out of a joint-venture between the two international freight forwarders Rotra in Chicago, USA and Interfracht Internationale Speditionsgesellschaft in Bremen, Germany. Rotra and Interfracht already cooperate together since 1984.

During the nineties a lot of European freight forwarders were taken over by American and also by German multinational freight forwarding companies. Many small and midsized companies lost their identity by mergers. Agent cooperation’s who were built up over decennia ended and the whole market was “mixed up”. In that period Rotra Chicago was forced by their Dutch partner to go on it’s own. The Dutch founder of Rotra USA Robert van Gent decided to start his own company in The Netherlands. Together with his long term partner Interfracht and the local management in The Netherlands the new company was set up in just one day.

With thanks to L&A Freight at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport Intervracht Nederland BV i.O. started their activities at the Prestwickweg on Schiphol South East. As per May, 1st 1999 Intervracht was IATA Cass Associate. On May, 1st 2001 Intervracht Nederland BV was approved as IATA Cargo Agent. After September, 11th 2001 Security rules in respect to Airfreight were tightened enormously. As a result of that in 2002 Intervracht became a approved Cargo Agent by the Dutch “Koninklijke Marechaussee”. Also in 2002 Intervracht became a member of FENEX, the Dutch Freight Forwarders Association. As per March, 25th 2003 Intervracht was certified by the Dutch Ministry of Transport to handle DG cargo as an Airfreight Forwarder.

In 2000 Intervracht moved their office to Duiven (near Arnhem). Office and warehouse space were rent from Beyer Logistics. Beyer was our partner from the beginning for the handling of our ocean LCL containers and the European transportation.
Beyer extended his building twice during the years and in 2003 we moved into our current office, about 300 m2 and our warehouse of about 2000 m2.

Since 2006 Schiphol Express, the largest Airfreight Handling & Trucking company in The Netherlands handles our physical operation as part of the Air Cargo Center Gelderland. Duiven even became an IATA code, which is ZYM.

Liesbeth van Gent and Jörg Töpfer, the Dutch Directors of Intervracht started the company in March 1999 and today 10 years later Intervracht is proud of its 17 highly motivated employees.
